carrai

Carrai 'thong, leather strap'  Appears in Rhonabwy. The GPC derives it from the Latin corrigia, a boot lace'. Since this method of suspending a scabbard is described in contrast to a belt, one might imagine it as a baldric-like strap. The description of Peredur carrying his sword 'about his neck' may be related.
