coch

Coch  'red'  Appears in 'Culhwch' and 'Rhonabwy'. The GPC shows this as a borrowing of Latin 'coccus', the name for the source of cochineal dye. Silk and leather are materials found in this color. It also appears in compounds such as 'fflamgoch', 'flame-red',  and 'melyngoch', 'yellow-red', a hair color perhaps corresponding to reddish-blue
